Learn more about BioPassport service!
Non-face-to-face and contactless services have become major trends for the post-COVID era. The importance of telemedicine is being reignited in the biohealth industry, including the medical industry, with an increasing demand for personal hygiene and health care services as a rapid spread of non-face-to-face culture takes place and social interest in health increases. The COVID-19 pandemic has been an opportunity to clarify the limitations of existing medical systems, in which inefficient data management and limited accessibility prevented prompt prescription and response. The Bio Passport team is looking to solve this problem by combining personal user information and medical data management with blockchain technology (DID and DPHR input technology).
The Bio Passport project is a non-face-to-face health care and medical data management service that combines DID and DPHR technology, and is largely divided into two businesses. The first is personal health management that allows users to conveniently provide info directly inputted by them on their health status and infectious diseases, and the other is the Marketplace service where users can purchase or sell personal medical records recorded inside the Bio Passport medical passport. Using the Bio Passport app, the user directly enters medical records such as treatments and prescriptions, and can submit data in a simple report format when traveling or on business trips such as health status, infectious disease-related symptoms and diagnosis results to organizations that need these health records such as airports, hotels, and checkpoints. Also, in conjunction with the self-developed self-diagnosis kit by Biones Pte. Ltd., the foundation for the Bio Passport Project, non-face-to-face medical examination services can be provided, and diagnosis and treatment later on can be performed remotely.
The Marketplace is a web-based DPHR trading platform in which users who wish to sell can sell their personal medical information anonymously, and only institutions with good purposes such as public health institutions, research institutes, universities and hospitals involved in areas such as vaccine development or research can purchase it. The blockchain technology used by the Bio Passport team makes use of DID (decentralized identity) and DPHR (decentralized personal health records) management technology. Bio Passport’s unique one-time anonymous identifier is used on sensitive information such as personal information and medical data, which is protected by an encryption key derived from each key.
The token used in the Bio Passport ecosystem is called BIOT, or Biopass Token. A BIOT can be obtained by interacting with the platform in various ways. Users can get these tokens by one of seven methods:
- When entering general medical data
- When entering official medical records such as virus diagnosis results
- When entering information over periods of time (10 days, 30 days, 100 days, etc.)
- When registering the user’s DPHR on the Marketplace
- When selling data
- When maintaining health
- When inviting friends
A BIOT is used within the ecosystem in the following ways on the Marketplace or within the app:
- Remote treatment or diagnosis,
- Data sale or purchase
- Diagnosis kit purchase (subscription type)
